The CSE team were required to assist on a busy junction, located in Lancaster which caused daily commuter chaos. Plans were put into place to widen the road in order to ease the congestion. Through the use of scale drawings, workers were able to identify where the gas lines were located and where the road would be extended to. In order to prepare the road, Vacuum Excavation assistance was required.
Our operator joined forces with the contractor to unearth the gas lines to preparation for them to be disconnected and relocated under the new pavement, which was a safe distance away from the new layout. The material that was excavated was stored on-site to be reused once the new road layout was fully completed.
Once again, the job was successfully completed and no issues with congestion have been reported since.
Vacuum Excavation offers a faster, more cost-effective solution than manual hand digging. A standard Vacuum Excavation can remove 2m3of spoil per hour, while an inbuilt skip can hold up to 10m3 before it needs to be emptied. In short, one Vacuum Excavation vehicle will complete a job in the fraction of time in which it would take a team of labourers or a digger.
Another beneficial aspect of Vacuum Excavation is that it is a significant time saver.
